In order to support this industry, as well as the current transportation needs of local communities, PWT has identified a viable opportunity to design, build and operate purpose-built marine vessels throughout the Pacific Islands.

The new vessels are intended to target the following key sectors or services:

  • Cargo: Roll-on/roll-off cargo, cold and freezer stores, hydraulic folding loading cranes, under deck fuel cargoes with shore transfer capability

  • Passenger: Local and high speed passenger services for local residents and visitors to travel around and between islands

  • Tourism: Passenger services and boutique cruises to serve tourism activities, as well as provide island transfers

  • Disaster relief: New vessels built to IACS class certification, capable of operating throughout the Pacific to provide support services when severe weather events affect the region.

The story behind the Pacific Water Transport (PWT) logo:

our PWT logo was created by a graphic artist to symbolise Polynesian culture; firstly we have the turtle or Koru Honu, as this represents travel and navigation in Māori culture, adorning the Koru Honu we have added the Tiare flower as according to Tahitian legend, the Tiare flower was created by Atea, the Oceanic God of Creation with assistance from Tane, the God of Beauty.

PWT feel the combination of safe travel, navigation and the perfect Tiare flower, represents our commitment to professional operations in the Pacific regions.

Pacific Water Transport (PWT) designs, builds, owns and operates marine vessels throughout the Pacific Islands to support economic growth and local communities.

The Pacific Islands are located to the north and east of Australia, and consist of three major groups of islands - Polynesia, Micronesia and Melanesia.

The region is rich in marine life, with ancient traditions and diverse landforms offering extensive recreational and cultural experiences. These characteristics create an attractive environment for the tourism industry - a sector that is expected to remain a key driver of growth in the post-COVID recovery era.
